Musical Theater Jazz Dance 

for Beginners

Age 15 & up

Musical Theatre class will focus on learning proper dance technique while 
preparing the dancer for auditions. Class curriculum is based on ballet 
technique layered with Broadway style jazz movement and includes a proper 
warm-up, stretches, across-the-floor progressions (battements, turns, leaps/jumps), combinations, and a mock audition. Emphasis will also be placed on 
learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and 
telling a story through dance and facial expressions. 
The perfect class for teens and adults interested in auditions and 
performance of musical theater.

Saturdays    11:30 – 12:30 pm

About Ms. Hope:

Hope graduated with a BFA from Webster University where she studied under Michael Uthoff, Alicia Mack-Graff, Beckah Voigt, Iyun Harrison and Maggi Konkel-Deuker. There she performed with Webster University Dance Ensemble and was honored to perform in many faculty pieces along with Antony Tudor's Dark Elegies and in ACDFA. Other training and performance experience includes City Ballet of San Diego, PGK Project, Ballet Chicago, State Street Ballet, American College Dance Festival, and The Pulitzer Foundation. In 2012, her choreography was selected for the gala performance at American College Dance Festival and was runner up for nationals. After graduating she danced with Common Thread Contemporary Dance Company and later moved to Cleveland Ohio to perform with Dancing Wheels Company. She has been teaching dance for 10 years in studios throughout the St. Louis and Cleveland areas.
